Canada's First Helium Producer in 40 Years
Canadian Helium Inc. began exploration for helium and industrial gases in Western Canada in 2010. In August, 2013 Canadian Helium purchased the original Wilhelm helium lease north of Swift Current, Saskatchewan which had been owned jointly by British American Oil Co. Ltd., The British Oxygen Company, and L’Air Liquide.and was in production from 1963-1977. A 2007 an 51-101 compliant Fekete report confirmed the discovered helium resource of 1,338 MMSCF at the Wilhelm property. Testing of the 02-09 well on the Wilhelm lease continued through 2013 and a pilot plant was set up to purify the raw gas stream into industrial grade helium. Full scale production began in June, 2014. Canadian Helium’s Saskatchewan plant is the first helium production facility in Canada in almost 40 years.
Today Canadian Helium Inc. ships its industrial grade helium in large tube trailers across Canada and the United States.
